"Energetic Listening"- The Core Foundation of Equinitryology

Equinitryology- Energetic Listening

Today I want to talk about something very dear to my heart, the core of my passion and daily life. I’ve coined it as “Energetic Listening”.

Everyone wants to be heard. Without being heard, we become swept under the rug. Not being heard makes us feel alone, vulnerable, unimportant and scared.

This leads to insecurity, overcompensation, over reaction and behavior issues, such as jealousy, envy and anger. In the horse's case it leads to insecurity, spookiness, over reactiveness and many other undesirable expressions.

Everything about Equinitryology is rooted in Energetic Listening. You don’t have to work with horses or own horses to benefit.

My job is like trying to follow a bowl of spaghetti, everything is intertwined and mixed together. In reality, life is that way.

No problem has only one cause or one solution, everything piles up and plays a role. Only by listening energetically, can we “Unravel the Unseen, Understand the Unknown and Unveil Solutions”.

So, what is Energetic Listening? It is listening with the intent to understand all things said and unsaid, in all ways, for the purpose of showing compassion and love.

Listening to help, never to hurt! Listening in a way that you are unbiased without personal feelings or emotion.

The journey to Energetic Listening is a long, in-depth and continual process. We will never be perfect, we will always be sucked into defensiveness or conflict, but we can get back up and try again.

Truly being heard heals wounds and scars. The ability to hear someone out fully, even if they are talking directly to you & about you… has the ability to move mountains.

Obviously, this is easier said than done. Following the energetic clues takes a lot of practice. People rarely ever say what they truly mean, and we never want others to know how we really feel.

It is much easier to learn Energetic Listening from horses. Think about the harmony we as a society could have… if we were willing to let the horse teach us how to truly listen!

Energetic Listening is the horse’s everyday language, not only for communication, but also for survival. However, we need to first realize that horses are naturally unbiased, without personal feelings or emotion.

Horses are not capable of things such as jealousy, envy, revenge and such. Horses always seek tranquility and community.

So, to clear the water right now, there is no such thing as a "counterfeit horse" (one that purposely and calculatedly decides to misbehave).

Horses aren't capable of holding grudges and plotting revenge. Hence the reason, that I'm so infatuated with them.

People have many barriers to this language and way of life. The primary barrier is us...our enormous frontal lobe...our feelings...our expectations.... our fears...BUT most of all its ignorance. We think that everyone and everything, thinks like we personally do.

We are completely ignorant as to what we hear and listen to. I’m not talking about your t.v., music, kids or spouse… I’m talking about those records that subconsciously play in your mind.

Can you hear what they are saying? Are they uplifting and loving or are they that nag of impending doom, failure and fear?

Are they actually your thoughts, or those of others, whom you don't want to let down... or worse yet, the thoughts of all the negative nay-sayers in your life?

Are they the thoughts of the people, who you would NEVER want to model your life after, but they have made it their job to tear you down at every turn? Therefore, you feel that you MUST prove them wrong.

We all have approximately 10 people that make up our "everyone". Those are the people we are actually referring to when we say things like, "everyone will think I'm stupid", or "everyone will think that I'm a loser", "everyone will say 'who does she think she is?'"

Subconsciously and unintentionally, we are saddling our horses, with this also. They can feel this, as they are prey animals and survive by picking up vibes. They interpret these vibes as a threat. To them, it is the same feeling as a lion, ready to pounce!

If you are working your ass off, to be better and better, to win every competition... always pushing harder and harder, to prove something to someone that doesn't matter, your horse knows it, feels it and carries it. After all he is your vehicle to your next "success", "win" and "put that in your book" moment.

Many times, we ride our horses to escape. So many of my clients say, "I just feel better, after I just go ride." Well, this is why, because a horse senses and carries everything.

In this case, a sensitive horse will buck you off and run for its life. A tolerating horse will stay with you but be snorty/spooky. A "dead-broke" horse will block you and the environment out proceeding like a robot"...because it's safer that way.

(I think we can all understand and relate to this).

We all think that a "dead-broke and bomb-proof" horse is such a gem. Yes, it is, within a functional and healthy horse/human relationship.

A relationship, where the horse doesn't feel as if he's constantly on stage of the Jerry Springer Show or Judge Judy! If that relationship isn't healthy, it will ALWAYS show up in the horse's body, sometimes in the most seemingly random places and ways.

We all deserve to be heard. Even if our communication style stinks. Horses deserve to be heard too.

Equinitryology is all about listening to understand, not judge or train. That is one of the reasons that it's so effective...because the horse knows that it is finally heard, and owners are heard too. Finally, clearer communication between the horse and those who love them!
